Let customers speak for us
from 1359 reviewsThe Atlantic Rancher Lobsterman Sweater is one of those rare pieces that blurs the line between clothing and gear. Designed with inspiration from traditional New England fishing crews, it feels less like a casual sweater and more like a purpose-built layer for real-world conditions. This is what you’d wear patrolling the East Coast while hunting for a Great White !!
First impressions:
Right away, the weight and construction stand out. At roughly 2.4 lbs, this is a substantial and robust garment—closer to outerwear than your typical knit. The merino wool gives it a dense, rugged feel while still maintaining softness and flexibility. It’s clear this isn’t just for fashion & looks it’s built to last.
Performance & comfort:
Where this sweater really shines is temperature regulation. Despite its heft, it doesn’t overheat indoors—a standout quality echoed by many users. The material is also not overly coarse and has a relatively mild ‘itch factor’, which is a big plus for a heavy wool piece.
Build quality:
Everything about the construction feels intentional, and very well manufactured—tight stitching, reinforced structure, and a fit that feels it will hold its shape over time. It’s the kind of sweater that looks better the more you wear it.
Style & versatility:
Aesthetically, it’s understated but sharp. The roll neck and textured stitching give it a classic maritime look that pairs just as easily with jeans as it does layered under a jacket. It’s rugged without looking overly technical.
Overall verdict:
The Atlantic Rancher Lobsterman Sweater lives up to its reputation as a “lifetime” piece. It’s ideal for anyone who values durability, natural materials, functional warmth over trends. If you’re looking for a serious cold-weather sweater that can handle both outdoor exposure and everyday wear, this is about as good as it gets.
Just received this shirt. Tried it on and I have to say that it is the most comfortable shirt I have ever purchased. I feels great!
A note on sizing: this shirt is true to the size and fit that is shown so I ordered a M and it is fine. This is mostly a summer shirt so I won’t be doing much layering with it. If I was ordering a Boatyard shirt or a Baymen’s Clamdigger shirt I would definitely size up because those shirts are meant for layering.
Guess there is a heritage with these sock makers for a reason. Super high quality - cushioned and warm - like a blanket for your piggies!
I purchased this sweater primarily for early and late season back country camping trips in the BWCA in Minnesota when the temperatures can vary widely and frequently get below freezing at night.
The sweater feels well built, soft, and very warm. The shoulder gussets are nice touch and it allows a full range of arm motion without feeling restricted while paddling, fishing, or shoveling snow.
So far I’m very pleased with my purchase and would definitely recommend this to others that are interested.
I have many vests that I wear when the weather gets cool. I can’t help it, I like vests. I have suede vests, cashmere vests, wool vests, alpaca vests. I have vests from Ralph Lauren, Peter Millar, and others. But the warmest vest I own is from Atlantic Rancher. It also looks great. You can’t beat that. The fit is true to size as are the compliments I receive when wearing it. It comes in three colors. I chose the rust (brown) one. Extremely pleased with my choice. If you’re looking for a classy vest that not only looks great but also keeps you warm, well then, I highly recommend the Atlantic Rancher Co. Longliner’s wool vest. You won’t be disappointed.
The perfect hoodie. Built like a tank, comfortable, and the best cut/fit I've ever experienced. On my way to getting every color available in the Canyon Hoodie + Crewneck pullovers.
The description is no exaggeration. It’s a great coat. I wear it casually to walk my dog daily on the beach and am not afraid to wear it when going out. If anything it’s under priced.
Not a boat person, more of a woodworker. I bought this tool bag for when I go help friends with repairs or for when I need to bring a bunch of tools inside for a project. This thing is super tough. Extra super thick canvas, not flimsy at all. Looked at some other options online but eventually went with this and I have 0 regrets. Gonna have this thing forever.
The construction is excellent. It is pretty warm for a baseball cap. I wish the bill was a bit longer and that the logo would be written across the back (not a fan of logos on my clothes). But meets and exceeds every expectation I had for it.
This is not your typical Long sleeve TShirt. This is a WINNER it’s made with a heavier fabric that feels durable and yet comfortable. It’s become a first choice in my rotation. What a great shirt. I’m hoping for some different designs so I have other options.
This are my 2nd pair of the Hudson Canyon Sweatpants and as with the first pair, they didn’t disappoint. They look great, the saturated navy color looks great even after a few washes. The fit, just as my first pair, is true to size and like an old pair of jeans, molds to your body after wearing for less than an hour giving a warm and comfortable pair of sweats. I definitely recommend the Hudson Canyon Sweatpants in whatever color you choose. For me, the Saturated Navy looks great!
Also, I have a Hudson Canyon Hoodie in Purple Rain that I can’t stop getting compliments on and as with the sweatpants, is warm and comfortable.
Just got my Essex Marsh shirt. Fit is great. This shirt is indestructible. I love it
I don’t write reviews. But this sweater rates it. Really exceptional heft and comfort. My wife and
Daughters almost stole it. Compliments
And comfort all around. Worth every penny!
This coat comes as advertised; a tried and true workhorse of a coat. The fit and finish are top notch, the fit allows for layering and there are enough pockets. The material is substantial but not heavy and you can wear this one for 3 seasons and possible winter depending on how cold it gets. I love the color. I will be a repeat customer for sure!
Soft and supple, yet tough and durable. Can be worn out on date night, or carrying in the fire wood. Great addition to winter gear line-up!
